As I’ve recently became a web developer I’m paying more attention to how apps function. Most apps you are not even consciously aware of. But the Spotify app I use all day on multiple platforms is so buggy.
- Podcast recommendations you can’t turn off or hide.
- It crashes 4x times a day, needing a restart. Switching from AirPods to your speakers has a 1/3 chance of crashing the audio driver
- – The Media key short-keys stop working randomly
- The UI is a disaster. It’s so slow (even on a M1 Mac) and you need to click through way too many lists.
It made me realise that a company with ‘infinite’ money still suffers from lots of problems. More people and money doesn’t make your product better. It can also make it more complicated and bureaucratic from which the final product suffers.
